Tried to write a '60s style folk song... something Larry Penn or Dave Van Ronk might approve of. Based on the first riff I played on my 1965 Gibson Country & Western dreadnaught. Came out as sort of a nursery rhyme about an earworm.

Broken Record Blues

Broken record blues
Skippin' out of time
You just keep playin' playin' playin'
In my mind
Song about a girl
From long ago
Now where she's stayin' stayin' stayin'
I don't know

Broken record blues
Needle hits the crack
You keep on sayin' sayin' sayin'
She'll come back
But she never does
And she never will
But you keep prayin' prayin prayin'
For her still

Just like the weather that is up above
The sun won't rise and there is no more love

Broken record blues
Only tune you know
And you can never never never let it go
And it ain't quite right
And it ain't quite wrong
It's just the broken record blues
And it's your song
It's just the broken record blues
And it's your song

Just like the weather that is in your face
The sun won't rise on this forsaken place
