about

First off, if you play guitar and sing, you have to deal with Bob Dylan, who invented the modern world. Denial is useless and poor imitation is common. This means that, if you're serious, you are doomed to write one too many bad knockoffs in the hope that someday, something of your own sneaks in there. The guy takes up that much psychic turf. This song falls in that category, but has a strange beginning. The riff is probably 20 years old but every time I tried to write a song to it the whole thing collapsed like cake in the oven. Then I realized that this itchy little melody wanted to be left alone and I wrote in all the spaces between, It's a tale of a beautiful summer night with the one you love and something bigger than your world on the horizon.

lyrics

Storm Comin'

Walking with wife
On a warm summer night
Perfect night for ice cream
Or catchin' fireflies
She turns to me and then she says
Yeah... she turns to me and then she says
Honey look... over there
There's a great big golden crown up in the sky
Must be abut ten miles high
And I say... Oh yeah

I see those thunder heads
A hundred miles away
Sun touchin' down
At the end of the day...

Oh yeah

It's gonna blow and bluster
Just you wait and see
There'll be river
Runnin' down the street...

And it won't be long

No it won't be long

And I said
you'll be droppin' off to dreamland
when you hear that thunder crash
Right through your eyelids
You will see that lightnin' flash

And it won't be long

There's giants up there fightin'
And the Gods are throwin' lightnin'
They're scarin' all the creatures down below

And they all start hidin'
Even the people
Especially the people

And you hope that you are safe
Hiding in your hiding place
but your house is made of straw
And it just might blow away

Storm comin'
Storm comin'
There's a storm comin'

There's a storm comin'
